Fridays with Friends… Meet Beatrice Feeney

What is your name and where do you live?
Beatrice Feeney / Winter Park, FL
Where did your love of Walt Disney World come from?
I always collected stuffed animals growing up & still have my Pooh Bear that my Dad got me as a baby.  I always DREAMED of going to Walt Disney World, but didn’t go until I was an adult in 2000.  During that trip, I actually had tears dropping down my face as I checked out to go hom.  That day I joined the Disney Vacation Club and the rest is history.
What is your favorite WDW Park Attraction and why?
EPCOT – World Showcase.  I was born in Germany so that country reminds me of my childhood trips to visit family.  I also love the culture, talents and FOOD from all over the world.  It shows us that we ARE a small world after all and brings us all together to learn our differences and enjoy new things.
Would you like to move to FL? When and why?
YES!  I dreamed about it for years – but my dreams came true in 2010.

I have 2 former coworkers that transferred to Orlando.  They both knew my deep LOVE (or some say addiction/obsession) with Disney.  One day I got an Email saying “MY JOB WAS OPEN” – it was the same job title & description of the job I did for the same company in NC.  With my references already in Orlando + my background….a couple of interviews and the stars aligned for our move.  My former coworker even allowed me to stay in her spare bedroom until I found a place to live.  God paved the way for us and it felt completely meant to be!

Who is your favorite Disney Character?

Pooh will always be close to my heart…my first stuffed animal (and a tattoo literally close to my heart)

What is your favorite food on WDW Property?
Nestle Tollhouse Ice Cream Cookie
If you could work for Walt Disney World, what would be your dream job?
I would LOVE to sell the Disney Vacation Club to help many other families have years of enjoyment with their loved ones in magical places!
Do you collect anything Disney, and if so, what?
Snowglobes, Disney stuffed animals – especially Pooh & Friends Disney Beanies
Do you stay on WDW Property, and if so, where?
Yes – staying at Saratoga Springs Resort in December…even though I only live an hour away.  Old Key West is our Home Resort.  I also LOVE the Animal Kingdom Lodge & Beach Club!
What is your favorite WDW Memory?
On my birthday one year I had breakfast booked in the castle with the Princesses before park opening.  As we walked out, I got my pic with Fairy Godmother & she said “Happy Birthday!” –  I asked how did SHE know it was my birthday?  (We were in a long line of guests waiting for pics)…Her response was “Bibbity Bobbity Boo” – I was truly amazed!  She told me to go to City Hall & tell them that the Fairy Godmother sent me there for a birthday button.  I went & told the Cast Member the whole story of how I was just eating breakfast with the Princesses in the castle & the Fairy Godmother sent me to get my Birthday Button.  To hear that story sounds SO CRAZY – but they seemed to love hearing me tell it…and asked if I would like to be the Grand Marshall of the parade in the Magic Kingdom that day.  I cried!  He proceeded to tell me that they’ve had entertainers, athletes, etc – but today was MY day if I would like to have the honor.
We rode in WALT DISNEY’s PERSONAL VEHICLE with a nice plaque inside to prove it.  MY BUTT sat where Walt sat!  Usually that car would be behind ropes so I couldn’t touch it, but it was MY DAY…so they said.  The Main Street Band led the way & we got to hang out with them before the parade.  I got a certificate & picture to preserve my MAGICAL MOMENT + Disney gave me a set of Mouse Ears with my name embroidered on the back.  Hearing my name on the loudspeaker as I was riding down Main Street USA in Walt’s car gives me goose bumps right now as I type this & is a moment that I can’t imagine being topped by many things in life.  THANK YOU WALT DISNEY WORLD!
If you won a million dollars that could only be used for WDW, what would you do with it?
A LOT!  I would love to reserve a room in Cinderella’s Castle & book a Disney Cruise…but I would truly love to donate a bunch to the Walt Disney Radio Dream Team to help Make a Wish families enjoy a week of Magic.  I have been truly blessed by being able to have many Disney experiences.  I would also love to help the Give Kids the World organization – two of my favorites!  I would hope to inspire others to check out those charities.

Are you involved in any Disney Communities, Groups, or Websites? Which ones?

Yes – WDW Radio, WDW Today, All Ears, Hidden Mickeys Guide groups, MEI Moue Fan Travel, Touring Plans, Inside The Magic, RADP, Dis Boards – among many more groups that I pop in and out of.  Disney groups are always filled with wonderful people!

Anything else you would like us to know about you?

I’m a little bit obsessed…but ya know – there could be worse things.  🙂  Have a MAGICAL DAY!

Fridays with Friends… Meet Lynn Brooks

What is your name and where do you live?

Lynn Brooks    Rutherfordton, NC

Where did your love of Walt Disney World come from?

I guess my love of Disney came from my family.  My parents took me and my sisters to WDW our entire life.  My parents and sisters first went to WDW in 1972.  My first trip was in 1983 at four years old.  Me and my sisters have families of our own now but we always try to go to WDW as an entire family.

What is your favorite WDW Park Attraction and why?

My favorite WDW attraction has always been Pirates of the Caribbean.  I love that it was one of the original attractions.  I get so excited when we walk in and you can smell the water.  It is a fun ride for the entire family.  And I also love looking through the store when we get off the ride.  I was so excited when I found out they were making a movie from the ride.  All POTC movies are a family favorite.

Would you like to move to FL? When and why?

I would love to move to FL.  My husband and I have said it is in our ten year plan to be able to move near WDW.  I hope our dream will come true one day.

Who is your favorite Disney Character?

Mickey Mouse is my favorite character.  It all started with a mouse.

What is your favorite food on WDW Property?

I would have to say that my favorite food at WDW is the Dole Whip Float.  When we go to WDW we usually get the dining plan and we use most of our snack credits for the Dole Whip.  Sometimes we while on vacay to WDW we make a trip to MK just to get the floats then head on to another park.  I LOVE it.

If you could work for Walt Disney World, what would be your dream job?

Wow, that is a hard question.  When I was younger I always thought it would be fun to work at the Great Movie Ride at HS.  I love that ride and though it would be fun to be able to play a part in the movie LOL.  I also think it would be so much fun to be a character and to see a child’s face light up when they see you for the first time.  And also to be a character in the parades.

Do you collect anything Disney, and if so, what?

I collect lots of stuff from WDW but my favs are the snowglobes.  I have about 30.  My husband and I have also started collecting the little wood carvings from the Mexico pavilion at Epcot.  Every trip to WDW, we go and pick one out.  We started this in 2007 when we were married.

Do you stay on WDW Property, and if so, where?

We always stay on Disney property.  We have stayed at every value and moderate and Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The one we stay at the most is Port Orleans French Quarter.  I love the beauty and the small size.  I also love the boat you can take to DTD.

What is your favorite WDW Memory?

I have five favorite memories at WDW.  First would be when my husband and I was married at the Grand Floridian’s Wedding Pavilion in 2007.  I truely felt like Cinderella marrying Prince Charming.  One of my favorite memory is form the day after we were married.  Me, my husband and my oldest son went to Epcot early in the morning and was chosen as family of the day.  That is one memory that not many people can say that they have.  My other three is when each of my three kids went on their first trip to WDW.  I loved seeing their faces as we drove onto Disney property and then seeing Cinderella’s Castle for the first time.  Each of my kids’ first trip to WDW was when they were 1 year old.

If you won a million dollars that could only be used for WDW, what would you do with it?

If I won a million dollars, I would probably buy points for the DVC and annual passes.  And then eat at all the great restaurants.  And can’t forget to buy all those great souvinears.

Are you involved in any Disney Communities, Groups, or Websites? Which ones?

I am probably a fan of every Disney fan page on FB.  I also love AllEars.net.  I have been a member with them for a very long time.

Anything else you would like us to know about you?

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids.  I have an 11 year old son, 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old son.  My husband says I have WDW OCD LOL.  My kids love WDW just as much as I do.  My husband and I were married in 2007 at the Wedding Pavilion.  That was his first trip to WDW.  He now has a love for Disney.

Blog Update for December 1st, 2011

Hey folks, I hope everyone is having a great first day of December! I wanted to just touch on some things with the blog so that everyone knows what exciting things are happening and what YOU can do to contribute your story.

First off, the new Vlogs are a hit! If you have any ideas on where you would like Craig or I to record, please leave it in the comments section, or email us at amy@therelocatedtourist.com . if you have no clue of what a vlog is, it’s a video blog that is a recorded clip of something- in our case, the atmosphere around Walt Disney World. You can find ride videos everywhere on the Net, but the ambience, the atmosphere is really what I feel people crave more. If we can make you feel like you are there, standing in the warm sun among the Disney magic, then we have done our job.

Secondly, the Insp”ear”ationals are off to a great start! We hope to hear from more of you, as we have had hundreds of emails that have discussed how we have inspired you. If you would like to remain anonymous, but you want to share your story, you can do that as well. Please share you story, I promise it will inspire others.

Thirdly, we have a section on the blog called the Relocators Roster. What this is intended for is a list of those who have taken the plunge to follow their dreams to live in FL near the Mouse. It is a fun way to see who else has done it, and again, you can use your first name only if you would like to protect your privacy.

Fourthly, we have two sections of meet and greet pictures. One for our Cast Member friends, and another for Disney Meets. If you have pictures you would like to share of us meeting you that we don’t have, please share them by emailing to amy@therelocatedtourist.com

Fifthly, the regular written blogs will continue to be written. I won’t lie, the vlogs are way easier to do and post, but there is something about the written word that I can’t and won’t escape from. I love sitting down and typing away, getting it all out of my head and into print. So no worries, the blog you love will continue to be that, just with a bit more visual eye candy.

Last but not least, the Meets themselves have been going GREAT! I encourage everyone interested in meeting up with myself or the family to let us know the best time, date, and place so we can pencil it in as soon as possible. We have met so many wonderful people since moving here in June, and I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support you have given us.

We have many exciting blogs coming up that will cover Universal Studios, the ABC Christmas Parade, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and lots of new Disney dining places we have never eaten at before! We are also playing around with new segments and features, so stay tuned and check back often!

Fridays with Friends… Meet Jim Orehosky

What is your name and where do you live?

Jim Orehosky from Long Island, NY

Where did your love of Walt Disney World come from?

My wife and I visited Walt Disney World  in 1991 and 1992, a first time visit for both of us.  But the addiction didn’t really start until 2005 when we took our two kids for the first time.

What is your favorite WDW Park Attraction and why?

So tough to answer but I’d have to say Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s just has fantastic detail. And it’s a classic.

Who is your favorite Disney Character?

Have to go with Mickey Mouse. You can’t think of Disney without him.

What is your favorite food on WDW Property?

We always have to visit Pecos Bills. Best burgers on property.

If you could work for Walt Disney World, what would be your dream job?

It would have to be Operations Manager. That would give me access to every part of the World. Disney has given me new ways to improve my customer service skills. I’d like to put it in action in the place that epitomizes customer service.

Do you collect anything Disney, and if so, what?

Other than memories, I’d have to say anything Mickey Mouse. Nothing too specific. We have lot’s of Mickey Mouse items in my house.

Did you ever consider moving here to FL? When and why?

Yes. We would like to wait until my daughter graduates high school. Which is in 7 years. Seems like so many years away. Besides the cost of living being very high here, we’re an addicted Disney family. I’d love to try to get into a management position with Disney.

Do you stay on WDW Property, and if so, where?

We always stay on property. To us, it just adds to the Disney magic. We’ve mostly stayed at Coronado Springs but have also stayed at Old Key West and Beach Club Villas. Looking to stay at the Wilderness Lodge next.

What is your favorite WDW Memory?

It would have to be in 2005 when we first took our children. My daughter was only 5 and terrified of all the characters. So she would give her autograph book to her older brother to collect all the signatures. We have a great picture of the two of them holding hands while heading to an attraction.

If you won a million dollars that could only be used for WDW, what would you do with it?

I would match what Lou Mongello’s Dream Team Project has raised to date. Then the rest would be spent on some fantastic WDW vacations! There’s some nice artwork at The Art of Disney I’d love to get my hands on too.

Are you involved in any Disney Communities, Groups, or Websites? Which ones?

Most of my time is spent on WDWradio.com (Disney05). And following Lou Mongello on Facebook and Twitter. And of course following the continuing adventures of The Relocated Tourist.

Anything else you would like us to know about you?

Trying my hand at blog writing. http://wdwhomesick.wordpress.com/

Fridays with Friends… Meet Lee Cockerell

When was your first trip to Walt Disney World?

Believe it or not I was never at Walt Disney World until I interviewed with them to join the company to go to France as Director of Food and Beverage for the opening of Disneyland Paris 1990. We lived in California in the 70’s and went to Disneyland four times when our son Daniel was two years old. We took him once and then left him at home the other three times. He is well adjusted as two year olds don’t remember being left at home. We had more fun without changing diapers and the such at Disneyland.

What is your favorite Disney Attraction and why?

I really love Rock and Roller Coaster because of the high speed take off and a thrill a second. If your are sleepy and tired, this is the attraction to wake you up.
Are you involved in any Disney Websites? If so, which one(s)?

I am not involved in any particular Disney Website but look at several from time to time. They have been great at recommending my book Creating Magic and my new iPhone Creating Magic app.

When was your last WDW vacation?

I don’t have WDW vacations since I live five minutes from Disney. I just went to the Candlelight processional last Sunday and just returned yesterday from a four day Disney Wonder cruise so I get a good dose of Disney often, especially since my son Daniel is VP of Epcot.

What is your favorite Disney Character?

I would have to say Tigger. I like his high energy. He is always on the go and bouncing around having fun.

What is your favorite time to go to WDW?

Christmas is my favorite…..and Halloween is fun too with my three grandchildren, Jullian, Margot and Tristan. They get more candy that they should and have a great time.

What is your favorite WDW Memory?

That is an easy question…9/11 is my best memory because I saw how great our cast members were that day. They stayed cool, calm and collected as we evacuated the parks and took special care of our guests that day and the days following that tragic event. They showed what big league professionalism looks like under fire.

What else would you like us to know about you?

I would like everyone to know that I have my own company now called, Lee Cockerell, LLC. I do keynote speeches and workshops on leadership, management and service excellence all over the world. My website is: www.LeeCockerell.com At that site you can sign up for my free blog, see my list of seminars and workshops, buy my book and app and learn more about what I am doing. I love helping people think differently so they can achieve better results in all parts of their lives. My on-line store for Creating Magic merchandise is: Creating Magic On-Line Storewww.logogram.com/creatingmagic

The links to all of my work are on my website. I also am working with a group to help companies save 12-20% of their benefit costs. Anyone interested in learning more about this can contact me at: Lee@LeeCockerell.com.

We are talking about saving 1M dollars per year, per 1000 employees. I will be heading to Iraq on February 11 to continue my leadership work with the US Army. Without our military we would not be still free after 234 years. They are the only reason we are free and the only reason many other countries in the world are free.
