Perusing the countryside of Illinois, I was in search of the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. There’s so much rich history here, and it’s been really fun to learn so much about this amazing man. Located between Bloomington and Springfield lies a little city, settled in the 1930s, called Lincoln. The only town which was named after Abe Lincoln BEFORE he became President! He also practiced law here from 1847 to 1859, at the Courthouse downtown and also the Postville Courthouse on the outside of town. There is a sign that recognizes the Postville Courthouse as an “official” stop on Route 66, and even though the Courthouse is not the original, it’s the spot where it originally was. It’s worth the stop for the City and the Courthouses, although I was only able to get into the Postville one (due to Covid). It was great to tour it (they have recreated it) and they have an ORIGINAL rocking chair that Lincoln sat in-pretty cool! It’s worth the stop to see, and it’s only about half an hour outside Springfield.
