One of the best things about going to the Disney parks and on a Disney cruise ship are the characters. What better way to capture the magic than taking a picture to cherish that special moment you experienced with your favorite character.
Looking back through the years, I’ve had many character experiences that have been memorable like when my husband and I were suddenly surprised by Pluto wandering alone on one of the decks on The Magic. The picture will always be special because it was taken on our honeymoon.
However, one of the best character experiences I’ve had in my Disney travels has to be when I was about 8 years old. It was the summer of 1987. EPCOT was celebrating their 5th anniversary and my family and I were eating lunch at the old Odyssey restaurant located along the bridge before the Mexico showcase pavilion. Private events are hosted there now. I vaguely remember that day but do recall sitting at one of the tables near the stage. We were eating and Mickey and Minnie walked in and went on the stage to dance. Next thing I remember I was pulled on stage and started dancing with them in front of everyone. I’m usually a very shy person when it comes to crowds, but I believe I enjoyed interacting with the two mice and I can almost guarantee I talked about it the whole day. That definitely was my favorite character experience I’ve had at Disney World.
