Fridays with Friends is back!! Meet Lesley Sawhook
Introducing “Fridays with Friends” again, this segment, which we started a year ago, showcases a Disney pal in the Community so everyone gets to know each other. If you are interested in being a part of this, please email me at email@example.com
What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Lesley Sawhook and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio
Where did your love of Walt Disney World come from?
Not sure really, we went several times as children and I loved it then. I became really obsessed in my adulthood. Tim and I honeymooned in Disney and as soon as we had kids we started making annual trips (and more!)
What is your favorite WDW Park Attraction and why?
Rockin’ Roller Coaster. I just LOVE how it shoots you off so quickly and the music. Nothing like singing and riding a fun roller coaster at the same time!
Would you like to move to FL? When and why?
I would LOVE to move to Florida to be closer to Disney which is why I follow your blog so closely. Since I’m a teacher and with the economy the way it is right now the reality is this probably won’t happen until I am able to retire, but who knows!!
Who is your favorite Disney Character?
Mickey, plain and simple : )
What is your favorite food on WDW Property?
LeCellier’s Mushroom Filet, YUM! (with a side of pretzel stick dipped in cheddar cheese soup)
If you could work for Walt Disney World, what would be your dream job?
My Dream Job in Disney would be a VIP tour guide in the parks, that would just be amazing!
Do you collect anything Disney, and if so, what?
A little of everything. Our house has certain “Disney fied” rooms like our kitchen where I sponge painted Mickey heads across the top as a border and my Mickey living room that started off with the Black Mickey mirror and we’ve added wall art including our TONS of Disney photo’s in various Disney frames, I just love that room.
Do you stay on WDW Property, and if so, where?
Yes, we always stay on property. We have stayed at Pop Century, Wilderness Lodge, Saratoga Springs, Port Orleans French Quarter, Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Bay Lake Tower. We own Disney Vacation Club now so our favorite place to stay is our home resort: Animal Kingdom Lodge.
What is your favorite WDW Memory?
Wow, there are just so many. I’m gonna pick 2. The first is a family one when we went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party together and all dressed up for the party, it was such a great time. The second is a couple memory when Tim and I took our first couples only trip and saw Osborne Lights together for the first time, when those lights came on it brought tears to my eyes.
If you won a million dollars that could only be used for WDW, what would you do with it?
WOW, I would buy one of the elite house right by Disney and we would relocate to Disney. We would buy annual passes at the park and visit as often as possible and dine at all of the best dining spots every time we went to the parks. I would go on Illuminations/Wishes Cruises and we would use some money to stay concierge level at each resort to experience luxury at Disney until every dime is spent : )
Are you involved in any Disney Communities, Groups, or Websites? Which ones?
I am big on Disboards and have written trip reports on the Dis every since my kids were teenie tiny. I am a travel agent for Pixie Vacations so I’m active with that group. I write a weekly column for Disney Dispatch online that is called “Happiest Tips on Earth”
Anything else you would like us to know about you?
I am happily married to my husband Tim and have a 10 year old Luke and 8 year old Lauren. I am a full time special education teacher/ part time travel agent. My family has become completely Disney obsessed over the years. We have been going every single year (usually 2-3 times per year now) since Luke was 2 and Lauren was 8 months old, so my kids have grown up Disney. I just love the Disney community and having friends who understand why Disney is such a special place. I am excited that I was able to have the travel agency business to help make others Disney dreams come true, it is a wonderful outlet for me.
